Our tips for the best weekend in Geneva

You’re about to spend a weekend in Geneva and you want to plan your visit well. Manotel has the information, advice and expertise to make sure that your stay in Geneva is as pleasant and comfortable as possible!

Why visit Geneva?

Geneva is a cosmopolitan city full of interesting activities and must-see locations. It probably won’t be possible for you to do everything in one weekend, so you’ll need to decide in advance what you want to do while you’re here. The city is relatively compact, so getting from one place to another is quite easy.

Before you leave home

To prepare properly for your departure, check the weather forecast for the duration of your stay. Geneva is located at the foot of a mountain and on the shore of Lake Geneva, so it has quite a specific climate. Winter can be very cold, whereas summer is generally mild and pleasant. Be sure to bring clothing that matches the forecast! It’s also worth getting a Geneva Pass, a kind of ‘tourist passport’ that will give you numerous discounts on many of the on offer in the city, so don’t miss out!
Moreover, be sure to check out the many special offers from Manotel hotels, available in both cording to the season.

Your arrival in Geneva

Bear in mind that if you are flying in, you’ll be able to pick up a free public transport ticket from a machine located in the baggage collection area at Geneva Airport. It will give you free use of public transport in Geneva for 80 minutes after its issue.

If you opt for the train, you will arrive at Geneva Station, which is commonly known as Gare de Cornavin. Conveniently, the Manotel group’s six hotels are all located within a 10-minute walk of the station and are also easily accessible by public transport. As well, there are plenty of taxis there, waiting to take you to your hotel.

Your stay in Geneva

Now that you’ve arrived, all that is left is to enjoy everything Geneva has to offer. A visit to the ‘capital of peace’ would not be complete without seeing the Geneva water fountain or, for that matter, rounding off a city centre shopping trip in style with a delicious fondue at the Hôtel Edelweiss. Our receptionists and our partner Key Tour will inform you of the activities available, whether in the old city, around Lake Geneva or on Mont Salève.
